Change and Continuity- 1877 – Present: Students begin to understand the push and pull factors. What led people to want to leave a certain area and move to another? They will then look at European immigrants and how their environment helped shape their identity. Students will also read about other difficulties immigrants had in the U.S. and how they were able to persevere when laws worked against them.
